A post popped up today on my social media page that I had written 5 years ago. My little son said the most poignant and beautiful thing while we were in the car. We’ve all heard the saying, “From the mouth of babes”. In this particular instance, it is so very true.
Here this little 5-year old child speaks God’s truth that absolutely melted my heart. He understood a concept that many people miss in life–that we serve a mighty God who heals our hearts, forgives our sins, and loves us with more intensity than we can imagine. He spoke this truth in such a way that shows he truly grasps this concept.
This is a great reminder that often, adults take the truths of God and make them difficult when in reality, they are truths that even a small child can comprehend. Sometimes, it takes the raw innocence of a child to remind us of a deep, theological truth of God.
The main takeaway from this is to not get bogged down with the truths of God because you are making them harder to understand than they need to be. I love that the Scriptures provide us with the perfect verse to remind us of this fact:
“Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.” Luke 18:17
